Founders Message
Mission

The Blackwell International Academy of Performing Arts (B. I. A. P. A. ) was formed to empower children who are low income and disadvantaged at-risk status to find “resilience” skills to move forward in a positive successful manner for the rest of their lives. Empirical studies has established the need for Music so that children who receive the arts improve self-esteem worth, better communication skills, increased awareness and belief that they can accomplish the goals they set for themselves: and use these tools along with the facts that music enhances critical thinking , academic achievement and students are reaching higher test scores. BIAPA is committed to serve children who would never be able to access the cultural arts and prevent the crime and juvenile problems facing our youth today.

Goals/Objectives

To provide programs such as musical theatre, ballet, jazz, instruments, orchestra, tap, voice and choral and other much needed classes. The 3 D's, Definition, Direction and Discipline are the key components surrounding are behavior change and communication skills, anger management, problem solving, humor and health skills for comprehensive approach to helping change the future of the undeserved and disadvantaged children.

The Academy has held over 15 outreach After School Enrichment Programs in Los Angeles County, Gardena, Long Beach, Compton, Carson and the Valley areas.

Current performing arts classes will be held at Tarzana Elementary, a Title I Elementary School. The Academy will continue to provide a partial scholarship and full scholarship programs for all youth unable to pay for classes along with helping to guide and instruct children who have the desire to become professional instructors or entertainers.

We are asking that you participation in making a difference in these children's lives by giving a financial gift to our B.I.A.P.A. after-school enrichment program. Your gift will make a lasting difference in the lives of children. Will you change the future of a child? We believe that you will. Every child deserves a chance of a future that doesn't involve Drugs, Gangs, Crime and Poverty.
